There's a lot of street history beneath the surface of this urban-historic collaboration between Sacramento rappers Brotha Lynch Hung and C-Bo. While they both hail from the same town, the pair hail from neighborhoods that have endured vicious gang feuds for years. Thus, the pairing of rappers from two rival crews is a statement in itself, expressing a desire to end the senseless street violence. Lynch previously made his name as a practitioner of deliberately outrageous, exploitative "horrorcore," but here he's toned things down a bit, as he and C-Bo stick closer to a conventional gangsta style. While much of Blocc Movement is concerned with the problems exemplified by the problems on the streets of Sacramento, Lynch and C-Bo aren't exactly do-gooders. The duo simultaneously bemoans and revels in the gangsta lifestyle, espousing hardcore attitude backed by hard-hitting beats.
