The group was formed in Lyon under the influence of Californian hip-hop culture - primarily the sound of Death Row Records, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg. For French rap, this is a rather unusual niche: most French groups leaned towards the Parisian school or the local Lyon underground, whereas Pass Pass from the very start oriented themselves towards classic G-funk with synth basses, talkbox, and the lo-fi vibe of the West Coast.
The current lineup consists of three MC: Alifornia, Kali (joined in 2007, replacing the departed member known as Bul), Kaldon. Former member - ~~DJ AK~~, who also released a solo project, "Sound of tha Tube" (2008).The lineup has changed several times over the years, but the core of three MCs has remained unchanged since 2007.

In 2007, the group switched labels: from their own 69 (Six Nine) Record'Z they moved to the Lyon-based No Bullshit Recordz.
What makes Pass Pass unique is their direct collaborations with Californian rappers. Among those they've recorded tracks with: Big Prodeje (South Central Cartel), Knoc-Turn'Al, Jayo Felony, Daz Dillinger (Tha Dogg Pound), Mr. Criminal, Mr. Capone-E, Lazy Bone, and others.
In addition to music, the group mentors Latin American artists - Chilean rappers SurSilvaz and Playaman from Santiago. Pass Pass have collaborative tracks with them in Spanish, such as Dia De Calor and No Te Engañes Mas.
In 2009, the album "Killaz From tha West" sold around 2,000 copies in two weeks - modest by mainstream standards, but significant for a niche independent release.
Pass Pass is a rare example of a French group that doesn't merely imitate the Californian sound but truly integrates into that scene. They don't translate G-funk into a French style - they play it in the original language, with English verses, Californian features, and production indistinguishable from releases on labels like Doggystyle Records. This makes them a unique phenomenon - a French group that remains niche in their home country but enjoys cult status among G-funk fans worldwide.
